Connor Solomon
On Saturday, September 19th 2009, Connor Solomon was diagnosed with a Medulloblastoma Brain Tumor.
It all began after Connor's 1st Soccer game (he scored a goal that morning), and after we got got home he stated complaining of a headache (which he had never complained of before). He was grabbing his head in pain. Looking back at that week we had noticed he was a little more clumsy than usual. On the drive the emergency room Connor told us he hit his head on the slide at school, so we had assumed he probably had a concussion.
A CT scan at the ER revealed the Tumor. The next week was a whirlwind. Brain Surgery, Intensive physical therapy to help correct side effects from surgery, a lunbar puncture, Port Placement and numerous MRI's and CT scans.
Connor has met a lot of wonderful medical proffesionals to help him on his journey. We are very thankful to his Surgeon Dr. Chen (who was able to completely remove his tumor). He is currently under the great care of Radiaologist Dr. Kee who is treating him for 6 weeks, as well as the excellent Pediatric Oncologist Team who will be working with him until October 2010. Many folks have made the road less bumpy for him with their kindness including his Anasthesia team and nurses.
Connor has a love for Star Wars, and revels in the time he can spend having a battle with his favorite Star Wars companion, his dad. He loves all kinds of games: Video, Board, Computer and Cards. He loves matchbox cars, Dragons and Knights, Transformers, and Collecting rocks. Our favorite family times are spent camping, traveling, visiting zoo's, museums, and amusement parks. Some of his favorite places are the Great Wolf lodge in WA, the KOA in Astoria, and Disneyland.
This year was very exciting for Connor, he was involved in Tae Kwon Do, and had just started Soccer and 1st grade before being diagnosed.
We appreciate all the love and support he has been given from Family, Friends, Teachers, his class, Coaches, teams and even complete strangers during this time.
